Venice wouldn’t be Venice without its Gondolas. Anyone thinking of Venice is most likely to think of one of the shiny black Gondolas with its standing Gondoliere in black trousers, striped shirt and straw hat. While Gondolas use to be the most important means of transportation, nowadays they are mostly used for tourists. Only along the Canal Grande are Gondolas still used as foot ferries in areas where there are no bridges. A tourist round trip in a Gondola can be booked in advance using the internet or directly in one of the many Gondola ports. Prices are negotiable and it is worth not to take a Gondola ride in the Gondola rush hours in the afternoon. The trip is  limited by time and it is a waste to sit in a Gondola traffic jam.
