As well as many forms of transport on dry land, Istanbul also has an impressive over-water public transport system. The Sea Bus is one such form of transport and is a great way of getting around. All the way back in 1987, the Minicipality of Istanbul went about creating a company that provided fast transport over water. This company create sea buses of the catamaran variety, and have since been providing incredibly quick services over the water. The first ten vessels were actually bought from Norway, meaning that their over-water transport system quickly became more modern and more efficient. Today, the company (Known as IDO) has 29 different terminals across the city, with a fleet of 28 different catamarans. They also have six fast car ferries, meaning that you have plenty of choice and it’s really easy to get around the city. Give it a go and see what you think!
